Dick Van Dyke, 98, reacts to second Donald Trump presidency: ‘I won’t be around’

Dick Van Dyke gave a scathing reaction to President-elect Donald Trump's second term in the White House.

The “Mary Poppins” star, 98, was asked about his thoughts on the recent election while out with his wife Arlene Silver, 52, on Tuesday.

on video Obtained by Daily Maila paparazzi asked the legendary actor if he believed Trump could “make America great again.”

“Fortunately, I won't go through these four years,” Van Dijk retorted.

The photographer also asked the 90-year-old, who will turn 99 in December, if he thought the result meant America's “future is bright.”

“I hope you're right!” the “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” star replied skeptically.

Van Dyke's outing comes after he made a rare social media appearance on the eve of the election, publicly supporting Vice President Kamala Harris.

in Video posted on Instagramthe comedian recalled his experience attending Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech in 1964.

“Fifty years ago, on May 31, 1964, I stood at the podium with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who was speaking in front of some 60,000 people at the Coliseum in Los Angeles, and I heard a message written by Rod Serling. I went to read it,” the actor said. Referring to the screenwriter of “The Twilight Zone,” he said:

“I got this book the other day, and I think it's just as relevant now, if not more so, than it was then, so I hope you'll give it a read.''

Van Dyke read part of his speech to supporters.

“Hate is not normal. Prejudice is not normal. Suspicion, hatred, jealousy, scapegoating, none of these are transcendent aspects of the human personality,” he said.

“They are diseases. They are cancers of the soul. These are infectious and contagious viruses that have bred humanity for years. And they always have been. Because it's the same now, does it need to be the same in the future? I don't think so.”
