Dick Van Dyke canceled an appearance at a pop culture convention.

The 98-year-old legendary comic book artist was scheduled to appear at the FanX Salt Lake Comic Book and Pop Culture Convention, taking place in Salt Lake City from Sept. 26-29, but event organizers announced Monday that he will no longer be able to appear.

“Unfortunately, Dick Van Dyke is unable to visit Fun-X at this time,” a Fun-X representative told Fox News Digital. “He thanks everyone for their continued support, but at nearly 99 years old, traveling and interacting with thousands of people is now not possible for him.”

The actor last attended a fan event in 2017, most recently appearing at the Fan Fusion convention in Phoenix in May 2024.

The “Mary Poppins” star recently made history by winning two awards, including Outstanding Guest Actor for her performance on “Days of Our Lives,” making her the oldest actor to win any category at a Daytime Emmy Awards.

“If I knew I'd live this long, I would have taken better care of my health,” the actor joked during his acceptance speech. “I'm 98 years old. Can you believe it? Thank you so much. This is really the pinnacle of my life. I've spent 80 years in this industry.”

He then won a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special for the special “The Magic of '98,” tying him as the oldest person to win a Primetime Emmy. He now ties Norman Lear, who also won an Emmy at age 98 for “Live in Front of a Studio Audience: All in the Family and The Jeffersons.”

“If anybody's looking for a job, I'm looking for a job,” Van Dyke joked to reporters backstage after accepting the award, proving he has no plans to slow down, and said he wants to be remembered posthumously “for making people laugh for 75 years.”

“I've been in this business for 75 years,” he said, “and I can't believe I'm still here performing.”

Van Dyke is known for his leading roles in popular productions such as “Mary Poppins,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and “Dick Tracy.” Throughout his career, he has won a Grammy Award for his performance on the “Mary Poppins” soundtrack, six Emmy Awards, a Tony Award for his role in “Bye Bye Birdie,” a Disney Legend Award and a Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award.

Van Dyke has never won an Oscar, but he's one win away from earning the coveted EGOT award. During his speech at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Van Dyke didn't rule out the possibility of winning the award “posthumously,” even saying it might be possible.

Only 21 people have achieved EGOT status, meaning they have won an Emmy, Grammy, Academy Award and Tony Award during their career.
