Sean “Diddy” Combs Begins Prison Sentence

Sean “Diddy” Combs was moved to Fort Dix on Thursday morning to start serving his sentence for federal sex crime charges. At 55 years old, Diddy has been sentenced to 50 months in prison after being found guilty in July on two counts related to transportation for prostitution. He has been incarcerated since October.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Diddy is expected to be released on May 8, 2028. The sentence also includes five years of supervised release and a $500,000 fine. Prosecutors had initially recommended a much longer sentence—135 months, or just over 11 years.

Since his arrest on September 16, 2024, Diddy has been held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. His attorney, Tenny Geragos, had previously requested that he be placed in Fort Dix in a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian. In this correspondence, Geragos suggested that Diddy could work on substance abuse issues within the prison’s Residential Drug Abuse Program, which could facilitate family visits and potential rehabilitation efforts.

Diddy was convicted on July 2 of two counts of transportation related to prostitution, among other charges. Prosecutors argued for a significant prison term, citing his unrepentant attitude as a factor in their recommendation. His defense claimed that during his time in prison, Diddy faced harsh conditions—described by his lawyer as “inhumane”—including inadequate access to clean water and food issues.

Days before Diddy’s scheduled sentencing, a federal judge dismissed his final request for a retrial, stating that evidence presented by prosecutors strongly supported the verdict against him.
