Diddy refused bail after being convicted of prostitution

Diddy Denied Bail Ahead of Sentencing

Shawn “Diddy” Combs was denied bail and will stay in prison until his sentencing, as ruled by Judge Arun Subramania.

The hip-hop mogul appeared visibly shocked, with his eyes widening and his mouth agape while the judge delivered the verdict.

Judge Subramanian emphasized that someone with a conviction for prostitution poses a risk if released, particularly noting that Combs’s own legal team had acknowledged the domestic violence allegations. He pointed to a 2016 video from the InterContinental Hotel, asserting that this footage illustrated Combs’s violent behavior without needing formal confessions.

The judge remarked that the defense was unable to demonstrate a lack of danger to the community based on the evidence presented during the trial.

“Given these circumstances, it’s unfeasible for the defendant to show he poses no risk to anyone,” Subramanian stated.

Initially, Combs’s legal team sought his release on a $1 million bond. While he was acquitted of most charges after a lengthy trial, he was found guilty of prostitution. Instead of the life sentence he could have faced, experts suggest he might only serve a few months, possibly up to 20 years.

The courtroom proceedings aren’t finished for Combs. He is facing numerous civil lawsuits from both men and women alleging a range of offenses, from sexual misconduct to rape.

One notable lawsuit from Chicago producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones Jr. claims that Combs forced him into drug use and sex acts for his enjoyment. Additionally, another woman alleges that she was dangled from a hotel balcony’s 17th floor.

The spectrum of crimes he faced during this protracted trial also includes allegations related to violence and intimidating tactics used to facilitate his notorious “freak-off” parties, merging drugs with various exploitation.
