Sean “Diddy” Combs Sentenced to Prison, Eligible for Release in 2028
Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to be eligible for release from prison in 2028, as recently reported.
The 55-year-old music mogul was found guilty of federal prostitution charges and received a sentence of over four years earlier this month. He is scheduled for release on May 8, 2028, according to information from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, was sentenced to 50 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release and a fine of $500,000. Prosecutors had suggested a much longer sentence of about 11 years.
His lawyer, Tennie Geragos, requested on October 6 that Judge Arun Subramanian consider sending Diddy to Fort Dix, a facility where he could potentially work on substance abuse issues through the prison’s program and also benefit from family visits.
Fort Dix, located in southern New Jersey, houses over 4,100 male inmates and offers various security levels, which might be appealing for someone like Combs, given its proximity to major cities like New York and Philadelphia.
The Bureau of Prisons will ultimately determine the specifics of where Diddy will serve his time.
A jury found him guilty on July 2 of two counts related to prostitution. In their sentencing recommendations, prosecutors argued that Diddy should serve a significant prison term, labeling him as “unrepentant.”
Since his arrest on September 16, 2024, Diddy has been held in custody, reportedly under what his defense described as “inhumane” conditions, including limited access to basic needs and care.
Despite requests and discussions about a retrial, a judge ruled out those possibilities, affirming that there was “overwhelming evidence” of Combs’ guilt on the charges he faced.
