Disgraced rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs sent a heartfelt letter to a Manhattan judge just before his sentencing, expressing a desire to make the judge proud if given a chance for a fresh start.
Combs, 55, is set for sentencing on charges linked to “Frak-Off” sex acts involving his longtime escorts. After being convicted in July, he was able to avoid the more severe charges, such as assault and sex trafficking, that could have landed him in prison for life.
Prosecutors are advocating for a minimum 11-year sentence, while Combs’ attorneys are requesting his immediate release.
In his letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, Combs is pleading for “a second chance” in federal court. He submitted the petition on Thursday afternoon, reflecting on the intense trial that brought to light the experiences of his former partners and the pain they endured, while also depicting his “spiritual reset” as proof of his personal growth.
“I can’t alter the past, but I can shape the future. I believe God has changed me. Since my incarceration, I’ve experienced a spiritual awakening. I’m fully committed to this path—I’m working harder than I ever have before.”
He acknowledged the extensive media attention surrounding the trial, aware that the judge might feel compelled to set an example with his sentence. “If you permit me to return to my family, I assure you I won’t let you down, and I take pride in your decisions,” he wrote.

Combs also mentioned the powerful testimonies given in court, particularly from singer Cathy Ventura and another former girlfriend who chose to remain anonymous.
Ventura, who was almost at the end of her pregnancy during her testimony, alleged that Combs coerced her into several days of outrageous behaviors throughout their decade-long relationship.
Although Combs didn’t own up to the severe allegations against Ventura, he criticized his own past selfishness and expressed surprise over similar claims made by another witness.
“Your honor, I thought I was acting in Jane’s and her children’s best interest, but after listening to her, I realized how much I’ve hurt her. I genuinely regret any pain I’ve caused. I’ve lost my direction,” he said.
The anonymous witness claimed she suffered abuse and was forced to take drugs before engaging in sexual activities with male escorts at Combs’ behest.
Combs, who was once worth $400 million, expressed frustration over his current situation but insisted he wasn’t looking for sympathy.
“What my actions have led to is inhuman. I’m not sharing this for pity—it’s simply the reality faced by many like me. We don’t have clean drinking water; we have to boil our water. It’s a dire situation,” he explained.
As Thursday evening unfolded, supporters began gathering outside Manhattan Criminal Court, waiting for the sentencing to begin, while Combs’ legal team continued efforts to secure his release based on the time he’s already served during the lengthy trial.
