A judge presiding over Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial expressed frustration with members of his family’s legal team on Tuesday after their attorney made disparaging remarks regarding the all-female prosecution team.
Judge Arun Subramanian criticized attorney Mark Jelagos, who is representing Combs’ mother, for comments he made during a podcast where he referred to the prosecutors as “six packs of white women.”
“I think it’s outrageous to refer to the prosecution in such a manner,” Subramanian told Jelagos, as reported in a transcript.
“This behavior will not be accepted by any court in the country,” he emphasized, directing his comments towards experienced attorneys in the room.
Jelagos, who has worked with various celebrity clients including Michael Jackson and Hunter Biden, indicated on Tuesday that he is assisting Combs’ mother, Janice, on a separate issue. He had attended the first two days of the trial, which was held in a section of Manhattan Federal Court designated for Combs’ friends and family.
Interestingly, Jelagos’ daughter, Tenny, is part of Combs’ defense team.
On the same day, Judge Lamberth noted he would be monitoring future podcast episodes to ensure that such comments do not happen again.
“I’m watching and listening. You now have another listener for your podcast,” the judge remarked.
“As long as you subscribe, I’m all for it,” Jelagos replied with a hint of humor.
Combs, 55, is currently facing serious charges, including assault and sex trafficking. Jury selection is set to continue on Wednesday.
Jelagos could not be reached for comment late Tuesday night.
