Sean “Diddy” Combs Under Suicide Surveillance After Conviction
Following his conviction in July, Sean “Diddy” Combs is reportedly under “continuous suicide surveillance,” according to his legal team. They have pushed for his release from what they describe as “inhuman” conditions at MDC Brooklyn.
As they prepare for his upcoming hearing on federal transport charges related to prostitution, his lawyers suggested a 14-month sentence. Diddy has already spent 13 months incarcerated. They argue that he has faced adequate punishment for his actions.
In their filing, the attorneys highlighted Diddy’s physical and mental suffering during his time in custody, stating, “Continued incarceration does not serve a positive goal.” They emphasized the importance of rehabilitating individuals and reintegrating them into their communities. Upon his release, Diddy aims to follow court orders and rebuild relationships positively while focusing on community initiatives.
Diddy’s Living Conditions in Jail
The legal team also contended that the guidelines for sentencing did not take into account the severity of the conditions Diddy has faced. They outlined several troubling aspects of his time at MDC:
- He has been under constant surveillance, meaning he must verify his safety to guards every two hours, even during sleep.
- Access to clean drinking water is limited; he has to heat water to ensure it’s safe.
- He sleeps in cramped quarters, just two feet away from other inmates, sharing a room with open toilets.
- For nearly 13 months, he has been deprived of fresh air and sunlight.
- A painful knee injury requiring surgery remains untreated.
- His diet consists of unhealthy food options, including expired processed products.
- There’s little to no opportunity for exercise or physical therapy.
- He faces extreme temperatures in the facility.
Reports indicate that Diddy’s legal team is seeking a more appropriate arrangement given these circumstances. Meanwhile, MDC Brooklyn has yet to respond to inquiries regarding his treatment.
Background on Diddy’s Case
Diddy has been in custody since his conviction on July 2nd. While he was acquitted of the most serious charges, which included assault and sex trafficking, his legal representatives argue that what was seen as a “swinger” lifestyle with his ex-girlfriend should not be grounds for the charges against him.
The judge initially denied Diddy’s request for bail on August 4th, citing concerns about his past violent behavior and the safety of the public.
Video evidence showed Diddy physically attacking his ex-girlfriend, Cathy Ventura, which further influenced the judge’s decision to keep him detained.
If convicted on his remaining counts, he could face up to 20 years per count, with a total potential sentence of 10 years. The next hearing is set for October 3rd.
