Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ex-girlfriend, under the pseudonym Jane, testified that the rapper deleted her social media posts and pressured her to take part in “Hotel Night.” During the trial, the judge viewed a photo of Diddy at Nobu, a well-known sushi restaurant, prior to this event. Jane stated that she and Diddy had dinner with two male escorts, Paul and Don. During cross-examination, she recounted that Diddy had removed social media posts from that dinner.
On March 2, 2022, there were text exchanges between Jane and Diddy where she mentioned coming to Miami before their dinner at Nobu. Diddy texted, “Everyone can post…” to which Jane replied, asking Diddy to have another woman delete a post. This was related to her posting a picture of Diddy’s other girlfriend, Gina, who wore a “love necklace.” Jane noted that she had a matching “love bracelet,” which she found emotionally distressing. She expressed that witnessing Gina’s posts was particularly painful, making her feel left out.
Experts argue that Diddy’s behavior does not substantiate a government case.
Jane’s cross-examination began with questions from Diddy’s defense attorney, Tenny Jelagos, focusing on her relationship with Diddy and the alleged coercion to participate in “hotel nights.” Jane reported that Diddy had been upfront about dating multiple women when they started their relationship in 2021, and at first, it didn’t bother her.
She mentioned that Diddy supported her financially through what she termed a “contract of love.” Additionally, she claimed that she felt pressured to attend “Hotel Night” after he threatened to stop paying her rent. There, she was expected to engage with other men in front of him.
The tension escalated during cross-examination when Jelagos inquired about Jane’s spending and gifts from Diddy. He brought up a text about another woman receiving a wallet from the rapper while Jane acknowledged a bag she had been gifted. She responded, “No, I was only traumatized… After three and a half years, I don’t think I really got anything.” The conversation then turned uncomfortable when Jelagos asked about the cost of a designer bag, prompting Jane to throw back a question about her worth.
The examination then shifted to Diddy’s alleged drug use. Jane testified that she suspected he used drugs when they first met but claimed she was unaware of the extent. She recalled a trip early in their relationship where Diddy appeared unwell, with yellowed skin and shaky hands after drinking excessively. She suggested rehabilitation, to which he dismissed the idea, asking what he would need rehabilitation for.
Before the cross-examination commenced, Judge Arun Subramanian denied Diddy’s request regarding an earlier statement.
During the proceedings, the defense highlighted testimony from Briana “Bana” Bongolan, who recounted an incident from September 2016 in which she alleged Diddy hung her from a balcony. Her recollection of details was questionable, including specifics regarding any substances involved. Ultimately, the judge ruled that there was no evidence of interference, stating that the defense had sufficiently challenged her credibility without bias against their case.
