Diddy’s Legal Woes ‘Could Be a Trigger’ for Hip-Hop’s MeToo Moment

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal troubles could spark a #MeToo moment in hip-hop, according to recent reports.

This week, Homeland Security officials raided the tycoon’s residence in connection with a sex trafficking investigation. The attacks occurred at Diddy’s mansion in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles and in Miami Beach.

“Hip-hop hasn’t really had a MeToo moment, and I feel like if these allegations are proven in court, this could be the trigger for one,” said music writer and rap critic Thomas Hobbs. To tell. Said british telegraph paper.

“This speaks to a broader culture of moguls who felt untouchable, threw parties full of women, and thought it was part of their lifestyle. So, this is just the tip of the iceberg. “Isn’t that too much? Diddy is connected to a lot of hip-hop legends,” Hobbs added.

“How many people gave him permission or enabled him to commit such harmful acts?”

Diddy’s lawyer said this week that the federal raids on the rapper’s Los Angeles and Miami properties were a “terrible use of military-grade force” and that Combs “is innocent and will continue to fight to clear his name.”

The #MeToo movement turned out to be an extinction-level event for the entertainment and media industry when the Harvey Weinstein scandal started a round of industry-wide accusations and reckonings, costing many careers.

Other career losers include Les Moonve, Woody Allen, Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey and Charlie Rose.
