Lizzo says she plans to “quit” from the music industry, months after a former backup dancer accused her in a lawsuit of sexual harassment, body shaming and creating a hostile work environment.
The 35-year-old “Truth Hurts” singer posted a statement to her Instagram “I’m tired of putting up with being dragged down by everyone in life and on the internet,” he told his 12.1 million followers on Friday.
“All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than when I met it. But the world wants me in it. I’m starting to feel like maybe not,” she wrote.
“I am constantly fighting back against the lies that are told about me in the quest for influence and recognition… being the butt of jokes all the time because of my looks… being discriminated against by people who don’t know my personality… my name… is being disrespected.”
