A 21-year-old woman was brutally tortured and left for dead in an apartment in the Bronx, so filthy that even the building’s supervisor wouldn’t go in, according to a neighbor.

Images from inside the Fordham Heights unit reveal a concerning amount of dirt and clutter. Authorities reported that the victim had been bound, stabbed multiple times, and possibly struck with a hammer before being abandoned in a stairwell nearby.

The police are currently searching for the boyfriend of the deceased woman, who is a person of interest in this tragic murder.

Responding to a 911 call, officers found the woman in the stairwell, barely clinging to life. Blood trails led them back to her apartment, where they believe the torture took place. Despite being rushed to a Bronx Care Health System facility, she was later pronounced dead.

It was noted by an inspector, who chose to remain unnamed, that he had visited the apartment five months prior for repairs. He mentioned spending about two weeks there fixing up the kitchen, describing the overall condition as “dirty” and not wanting to return.

Law enforcement indicated that while a 54-year-old woman has been detained and is being questioned regarding the murder, as of Thursday, no charges have been filed.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed the victim’s 21-year-old boyfriend leaving the Bronx building shortly after the incident.

A neighbor commented on the history of issues within the apartment, revealing that an older woman had lived there for over two decades. They expressed concerns about the boyfriend’s behavior, mentioning incidents of violence towards his mother that had gone unreported.

The investigation into this young woman’s death is ongoing, and no formal accusations have yet been made.
