Diego Pavia’s NFL Aspirations After Vanderbilt Success

Diego Pavia, a Heisman Trophy finalist during his last year with the Vanderbilt Commodores, is setting his sights on a potential NFL career in the near future.

This week, scouts and media convened at the Senior Bowl to evaluate Pavia’s physical stats. He was recorded at nearly 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed in at 198 pounds.

Height isn’t everything, but it plays a role in how teams assess draft candidates. Typically, NFL quarterbacks are between 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-3, with players like Bryce Young and Kyler Murray being on the shorter side at 5 feet 10 inches.

Pavia appeared unfazed by his measurements when discussing them with reporters. “Yes, my size has been questioned all my life,” he shared. “I think all the NFL cares about is if we can win, and I consider myself a winner. I’ve been lucky to have great teams so far. We’ve never had a losing season. I’m hoping my future will look similar.”

He also emphasized the importance of team dynamics. “I feel like God has blessed me in many ways to be a connector. It’s like a superpower of mine. When we come together, we play for each other, and when we give it our all, our team is unstoppable.”

Pavia showcased his determination during his time at Vanderbilt. After transferring from New Mexico State in 2024, he posted impressive numbers, including 2,293 passing yards and 20 touchdowns in his first season. One of his standout games was a narrow victory against Alabama, finishing 7-6.

In 2025, Vanderbilt achieved a record of 10-3 and was close to making it into the College Football Playoff. Pavia concluded that year with 3,539 passing yards and 29 touchdowns, which earned him a spot as a Heisman finalist.
