The list of players in the Unrivaled Basketball League continues to grow as the new 3×3 league slowly begins announcing the names of its WNBA participants, and Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington, widely regarded as one of the league's top defenders, is the latest to publicly commit to playing for Unrivaled.
Carrington is having a breakout season as a first-year starter in the WNBA and is widely considered the front-runner for the Most Improved Player award. She's averaging 12.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, usually against the opponent's best perimeter scorer. The Suns have the second-best record in the league this season.
Unparalleled Founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, the new professional 3×3 league will open in Miami in January and run for eight weeks during the WNBA offseason. It allows players to stay in the U.S. instead of playing overseas. The inaugural class of 30 players will be split into six teams by a selection committee, with each team rostering five players. Each team will have a head coach, assistants, and team manager. Some of the coaches will be from the WNBA, others not. The league will offer a minimum salary of $150,000 and player rights.
Currently, the unparalleled basketball league's roster publicly includes 19 WNBA players.
