JPMorgan Chase & Co. Chief Executive Jamie Dimon said on Wednesday that he and Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk have filed a lawsuit against Dimon and Tesla CEO Elon Musk after Dimon's bank sued the tech billionaire's electric car company in 2021. He said that the CEO had “faced it firmly” and resolved the differences.
“Elon and I embraced it,” Dimon said. told CNBC At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “He came to our conference. We had a nice and long chat. We resolved some of our differences.”
“That man is our Einstein,” he added. “And I want to help him and his company in any way I can.”
JPMorgan Chase & Co. sued Tesla in 2021, demanding $162 million from Musk's company as part of a stock options deal. The controversy centered on a 2018 tweet in which Tesla's CEO suggested he might take the company private, and subsequent changes in Tesla's value.
The tweet also prompted a lawsuit from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which Musk and Tesla each paid $20 million to settle in 2018.
JPMorgan dropped its lawsuit against Telsa last month after the two companies reached a settlement.
Musk has since played a key role in President Trump's administration as head of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and as a close aide to the president.
Dimon said Wednesday he wished Musk and DOGE the best of luck as they embark on cost-cutting efforts.
“I think it's perfectly reasonable for someone to look at our government and say it's been ineffective,” Dimon told CNBC.
