Dingrui Wang accused of pretending to be a doctor during unsuccessful eyelid operation

Alleged Medical Impersonation Leads to Legal Charges in Massachusetts

A woman’s pursuit of beauty took a disastrous turn when she suffered lasting harm from an unlicensed individual posing as a doctor. The incident involves Dingrui Wang, 34, from Newton, Massachusetts, who is accused of performing double eyelid surgery on a 22-year-old woman from Allston in January 2020. According to the Office of Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin R. Hayden, Wang did not possess a valid medical license while misrepresenting himself as a licensed practitioner.

Officials claim that during the procedure, Wang injected the victim’s eyelids with local anesthetics and non-FDA-approved fillers, resulting in permanent scarring. The victim reportedly experienced severe pain and attempted to leave during the surgery. However, the allegations state that Wang forcibly restrained her, pushing her back onto the table.

In addition to the surgery allegations, prosecutors noted that Wang falsely claimed on a loan application to the American Lending Center that he held various licenses, including those for esthetics, massage therapy, and operating a hair salon.

Wang now faces several serious charges, including four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, one count of inflicting serious bodily injury, one count of kidnapping, and two counts of theft exceeding $1,200 under false pretenses.

The charges also include unauthorized medical practice, misuse of a medical title, and obtaining payment through fraudulent representation. Wang was indicted by a grand jury on January 29 and is set to appear in court on February 5.

As District Attorney Hayden stated, “Licensing serves a critical purpose, ensuring that patients receive treatment from qualified professionals. Misrepresentation can lead to severe consequences.”

Further comments from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office have been requested for clarity on the situation.
