Director Carl Erik Rinsch arrested for swindling Netflix out of $11M

Hollywood writer and director Carl Eric Linsh has been arrested on Netflix for fraudulent conduct of $11 million.

Linsh was arrested Tuesday in West Hollywood, California on wire fraud and money laundering charges, according to the Associated Press.

He is accused of spending money Cryptocurrency investmentRolls-Royce and Ferrari.

Prosecutors say Linsh originally paid $44 million for the unfinished show “White Horse” from Netflix, but the director requested an additional $11 million to complete it.

Prosecutors say Linsh has transferred $101 million to a personal account and invested half of that.

The indictment showed that Linsh gave the cryptocurrency market the remaining money from $11 million in Netflix.

Prosecutors said Linsh spent $1.8 million on credit card bills, $1 million for lawyers, $10 million for lawyers, $10 million for lawyers to sue streaming services for “more money,” $3.8 million for furniture and bone loce, five Rolls-Royce and one Ferrari, and finally $652,000 for watches and clothing.

Linsh was in court on Tuesday in a turtleneck sweater and jeans tied to his hands and ankles. U.S. Magistrate Judge Pedro V. Castillo agreed to have Linsh win a $100,000 bond on Tuesday.

Linsh's attorney, Annie Carney, said at the hearing that the allegations against her client were “purely financial” and refused to comment outside the courtroom.

There is no date for Linsh's next court hearing in New York where the indictment was filed.
