Disastrous New York Vegandale compared to Fyre Festival

Angry customers at New York's Vegandale have compared the highly-hyped plant-based festival to the Fyre Festival after hours-long lines, water and toilet paper shortages and other issues.

“We were hungry, we were cranky and we were miserable,” said Rocco Marongeli, 46, a graphic designer from Queens. The New York Times He waited in line for an hour before finally giving up and going home after the event fell through.

Vegandale's New York show, part of a roughage promotional campaign taking place in eight cities across the US and Canada, took place at Citi Field last Saturday.

The festival attracted thousands of attendees who came to visit over 200 vendors and enjoy the amazing performances of GloRilla.

Instead, there were too few metal detectors at the entrance, which led to long lines, and it took a long time to get tickets, which cost $15 for general admission and $90 for VIP access.

“I don't think they had the manpower to face the wave of vegans trying to destroy the gates,” Marongieri complained.

Some guests reported a shortage of toilet paper, as well as drinking water and running water in the toilets for hand washing.

Many critics likened the fiasco to 2017's ill-fated Fyre Festival, an extravaganza of music, which infamously left thousands of attendees stranded on an island with only scarce food and emergency tents.

Critics on Reddit urged visitors to report the smoothie-sipping party to “the New York City Department of Consumer Protection and the New York State Attorney General.” The New York Times reported that the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) and the state Attorney General's office had received two complaints.

Erica Munoz, owner of Pinche Vegana, who has had a booth at New York Vegandale for several years, claims that organizers have changed their fee structure to take a 30 percent commission on all sales rather than a flat fee per booth.

She estimated the cost would be $3,000, three times what she paid for previous events.
