Disgraced Former Governor Andrew Cuomo Reportedly Vying To Replace Eric Adams Following Indictment

Former Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is reportedly eyeing fellow Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adam's office, according to multiple reports.

The former governor had expressed interest in running for mayor even before Adams' federal indictment on Wednesday. According to to multiple report. Mr. Cuomo previously came under scrutiny for ordering COVID-19 patients back into nursing homes and was ultimately forced to resign over a sexual harassment scandal. cuomo testified On September 10, he spoke before the House Oversight Committee's Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic regarding the administration's response to nursing home patients during the pandemic, following reports that revealed undercounting of patient deaths. Republican Representative Elise Stefanik of New York said in a committee investigation into Mr. Cuomo's conduct that Mr. Cuomo and his senior aides made “deliberate decisions” to “exclude” information about patient deaths. He claimed that it was found that he had done so.

Cuomo's scandal-plagued career ended when the then-governor resigned in August 2021 after being accused of sexually harassing multiple female subordinates. Months later, in January 2022, a New York state judge dismissed sex crime charges against the former governor. Since Cuomo's resignation, multiple reports have reported that Cuomo's mayoral ambitions have resurfaced in light of Adams' recent indictment.
