Notorious Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein has been transferred from Rikers Island Jail to the Bellevue Hospital prison ward in Manhattan after contracting COVID-19 and pneumonia in both lungs.

On Thursday, Weinstein’s adviser Craig Rothfeld detailed Weinstein’s health situation.

“[Weinstein is being] “I treated numerous health issues that still plague me on a daily basis, including diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, fluid buildup in the heart and lungs and a variety of other ailments,” he said.

Weinstein is currently awaiting a retrial on charges of rape and sexual assault – his original conviction was overturned on appeal after jurors heard testimony from women unrelated to the incident.

Weinstein must await retrial in custody after being convicted of rape in California and sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2022. Weinstein’s legal team argues that his conviction in California was not a fair trial.

Weinstein continues to deny any rape or sexual assault and is scheduled to go on trial in November.
