Jim Acosta, once known for his role as a White House correspondent, seems to have embraced the promotion of dubious news. This week, in an effort to underline his agenda, he interviewed AI representations to support left-leaning gun control initiatives.
The interview featured Joaquin Oliver, a 17-year-old who tragically lost his life in a mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, back in 2018.
Acosta’s actions reflect the same dishonesty often associated with his party. It’s disappointing and disingenuous, and this blatant misrepresentation should be a point of focus for critics.
Following backlash, Acosta defended his actions, claiming they were done at the request of Joaquin’s parents. However, that doesn’t seem right. Certainly, Joaquin’s parents are entitled to cope with their loss in any way they choose, including creating an AI version of their son to articulate their political views.
But using such an AI representation in journalism raises concerns, particularly when it purports to represent the voice of someone who died years ago.
“I felt like I was communicating with him, and that’s really amazing,” Acosta remarked.
However, it’s questionable whether anyone can truly know how a teenager might evolve into adulthood.
While I don’t judge how parents grieve the loss of their children, it’s clear that Acosta is using the memory of a deceased teenager to further his own political aims.
His lack of awareness also indicates he believed this was a sound decision. If someone claimed they could resurrect Andrew Breitbart through AI, and he could advocate for his views, that wouldn’t sit well with me…
And I knew Andrew personally. Yet, I’ve never attempted to speak for him.
Acosta has never even met Joaquin.
It’s impossible to predict how anyone will develop over time. No one can forecast those changes. If I had said a decade ago that I’d support tariffs or oppose the Iraq War, I would have laughed at the notion.
In the end, I appreciate when individuals in the mainstream media reveal their true natures. Jim Acosta has showcased himself as someone self-serving, willing to exploit circumstances to advance an anti-American narrative.
