'Disloyal' Democrats respond to grand jury indictment announcement

Federal Prosecution’s Investigation into Democratic Lawmakers

The federal prosecution initiated by DCUS prosecutors has emerged months after President Trump urged the arrest of certain “incendiary” Democrats. These Democrats had previously called for military and intelligence officials to ignore what they deemed unlawful orders from the administration.

Recently, a grand jury decided not to indict the Democratic lawmakers featured in a controversial video, according to the Associated Press, citing an anonymous source familiar with the situation.

“Tonight, we will score one point for the Constitution, freedom of speech, and rule of law.”

The Justice Department is reportedly investigating six members of Congress who appeared in a November video titled “Don’t Give Up the Ship.” Senator Elissa Slotkin from Michigan expressed concerns about this investigation, branding it as a tactic of intimidation.

It remains uncertain whether the prosecutors will pursue indictments against all six lawmakers, or what specific charges might be filed. Yet, there’s still a chance that legal actions could follow, as noted by Fox News.

Alongside Slotkin, the video included contributions from Senator Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), Representative Chris Deluzio (D-Pennsylvania), Representative Maggie Goodlander (D-North Carolina), Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pennsylvania), and Representative Jason Crow (D-Colorado).

Slotkin, who claims to have orchestrated the video, made remarks in a lengthy social media post. She stated, “President Trump continues to weaponize our justice system against his perceived enemies. This resembles the types of actions we see in authoritarian regimes, not in the America we know and cherish. Regardless of what President Trump and others might attempt in this case, we are making a stand for our Constitution and the principles of free speech and rule of law.”

Kelly deemed the investigation “an outrageous abuse of power by Donald Trump and his supporters,” asserting that Trump wants to instill fear in Americans to silence dissent. He emphasized that maintaining a voice against such intimidation is the most patriotic action one can undertake.

In a brief video, Crow stated, “We will continue to fight back against their growing oppression.” Deluzio also weighed in, remarking that while the intention may be to instill fear about speaking out or protesting, true patriotism requires courage. He urged others not to abandon their stand.

Houlahan characterized the entire investigation as a diversion, emphasizing that today’s victory for free speech should take precedence over such distractions.

Requests for comments from the DCUS prosecutor’s office and the Department of Justice went unanswered.
