Terry Moran, a former ABC News correspondent, has embarked on an independent journalism venture. At 65, he recently reactivated his social media accounts, expressing his commitment to crucial work, particularly after his departure from a Disney-owned network.
Moran was let go for breaching company guidelines following a controversial social media post aimed at Stephen Miller, a senior official in the White House.
In a recent message shared on his platform, he remarked on his nearly three-decade tenure at ABC News, emphasizing that he is no longer part of the organization. He expressed enthusiasm for the strides he aims to take now, noting that he looks forward to engaging in meaningful work during a challenging time for the nation.
He plans to share reports and interviews on his new site, although he mentioned needing some time to get everything set up properly.
Moran announced this new chapter through his social media account, where he previously criticized the White House Deputy Chief of Staff. He described Miller as someone who embodies the negative impulses of the Trump administration, suggesting that his approach leans more toward “bile” than “brain.”
He added that Miller seems fueled by hatred, which he characterized as an essential part of Miller’s identity. It’s, well, a pretty strong accusation that showcases Moran’s viewpoint.
Initially, ABC News halted Moran’s activities after deeming his post as inconsistent with the network’s standards for objectivity. A spokesperson stated that his comments did not align with ABC News’ principles and warranted a suspension for review.
Reports indicated that Moran had upset some of his colleagues, leading to a consensus that his actions were damaging to the network.
Ultimately, he was terminated just days before his contract was set to expire due to the infraction on social media.
In the wake of his firing, Moran redefined his social media biography, now presenting himself as an independent journalist.
