Disney+ ditches DEI initiative that included ‘wrong’ stereotypes warning

Fox News contributor Joe Concha said the co-host of “The Big Weekend Show” listed other companies that deploy its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiative, making Disney's “a classic film” “Woke” warning echoed.

“We definitely don't need it [the warnings]”Concha insisted: “Many of these Disney classics were made in the 60s, 70s, in the altogether different eras.”

In 2020, Disney+ updated content warnings about older films such as “Peter Pan,” criticising what is called “wrong” stereotypes.

DEI strategy loses steam to change content warnings before older movies like Disney+ “Peter Pan”

Disney+ issued a message at the beginning of the 1970 film The Aristocrats, warning that “the program includes negative portrayals and abuse of people and culture.” (Disney+)

“The program includes negative portrayals and abuse of people and cultures,” he read. “These stereotypes were wrong at the time, and now they're wrong.”

Recently, Disney has returned to warnings for the next abbreviated content. “The program is presented as the original creation and may contain stereotypical or negative depictions,” according to the February 11 Axios report.

The update comes as big companies rewind the DEI initiative since President Donald Trump took office, including Amazon, Starbucks, Ford, Target, Walmart and Home Depot.

Concha cited a nearly 60% decline in Disney's inventory after former President Joe Biden took office as evidence that the classic “wake-up” remake “off” audiences.

“What awakens to see a remake of a Disney movie where the snow is no longer white, and instead they force us to do everything and make them what they should be, they do something like these classics. I'll shoot it,” Concha said.

“I mean, last year we watched Disney movies with our kids. It was about dogs, dog superheroes, and there was one couple, a lesbian dog couple. Storyline?

Fox News national correspondent Griff Jenkins said Disney is not the only company that still holds some of the DEI policies.

“At the end of the day, it's not just Disney,” Jenkins argued. “All these companies and Costco, I've reported a few things about this. These companies support the DEI. Here's a simple message, and that message reads the room.”
