Disney is set to open its seventh theme park in an unexpected location.

Disney has announced plans to establish a theme park and resort in Abu Dhabi, marking its seventh park globally and the first in the Middle East.

This park will be situated on Yas Island, a well-known recreational hotspot in the United Arab Emirates, which already features attractions like Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, and Sea World Abu Dhabi.

The area is also home to the Yas Marina Circuit, famous for hosting Formula 1 races.

Miral will handle all development and construction costs, while Disney’s Imagineering team will oversee creative design. Disney will also manage park operations.

While Disney isn’t making a direct financial investment, the company expects to benefit financially through royalties generated by the project.

Disney CEO Bob Iger shared his excitement about this new venture, emphasizing the potential for cultural synergy and innovation.

“This is an exhilarating moment for our company as we unveil plans for a thrilling Disney theme park resort in Abu Dhabi,” he said. “As our seventh theme park destination, it emerges from the landscape in a stunning manner, integrating modern architecture with advanced technology to offer visitors a rich, immersive entertainment experience in a unique and contemporary way.”
