Disney Plus Advertisers Fleeing as ‘Star Wars’ Series Flop, Subscriptions Underwhelm

The Disney+ streaming service is reportedly facing an exodus of advertisers from its ad-supported tier after subscriptions didn't meet expectations and some well-known services were left out. I am. star wars and other Lucasfilm series were huge failures with audiences.

Disney+'s ad-supported tier, which was launched to bring even more revenue to Disney's coffers, will be a major hit on the platform, according to a recent report from an anonymous ad expert known as “Kiss My Grits.” Valliant Renegade (“KMG”), which has struggled to retain disillusioned advertisers, was featured on the Valliant Renegade YouTube channel.

“The number of subscriptions in the ad tier is nowhere near what we expected,” KMG said in a video.

KMG also claimed that Disney+ failed to deliver the number of ad impressions promised to certain advertisers.

“So some of the campaigns that are running on that platform are underperforming significantly. And advertisers are clearly not very happy as a result of what's going on. And they're taking money out of those campaigns, and they're saying, 'If we can't meet the deadlines we promised, we'll put that money elsewhere.'

KMG also accused Disney of being non-transparent about advertising numbers when it comes to streaming, which indicates the revenue may not be where it needs to be.

Disney, like other major streamers, is trying to move subscribers to ad-supported tiers because that option is more lucrative for studios.

Disney still collects advertising revenue on top of that by charging a monthly fee for ad-supported options and forcing customers to watch commercials.

But the failure of several high-profile Disney+ series has apparently hurt the studio's advertising prospects.

star wars series acolyte It cost the studio an estimated $180 million and was canceled after just one season. The highly promoted series, which featured a gathering of lesbian witches, failed to attract viewers, and ratings steadily declined throughout its first and only season.

Another disaster for Lucasfilm was this series. willowIt was also canceled after one season.
