Disney revealed on Tuesday that it will be raising subscription prices for various streaming packages. This decision comes during a time of heightened scrutiny regarding ABC’s choice to temporarily suspend Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show.
Kimmel was recently put on hold due to remarks he made, but he made his return to ABC on Tuesday evening following the backlash surrounding conservative influencer Charlie Kirk’s comments.
Nexstar Media, which owns The Hill, confirmed on Tuesday that they will continue airing the show. They expressed their support for fostering respectful dialogue in the markets they serve, noting that while “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will be accessible nationwide via multiple Disney-owned streaming platforms, local stations will maintain their focus on regional news and programming.
In light of Disney’s earlier decision to suspend “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, numerous celebrities and public figures encouraged audiences to cancel their Disney subscriptions. Yet, both CNN and Deadline reported that the streaming price hikes had been planned before the controversy erupted.
Disney, which did not immediately respond to a request for comments from Nexstar, has a history of enforcing price increases, not just in streaming, but also for programming and theme park admissions in October.
What prices are changing?
Disney+ and Hulu prices will increase to a range of $10.99 to $12.99. The Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select Bundle will now range from $16.99 to $19.99, while the Disney+ Premium, Hulu, and ESPN Select Bundle Legacy will be priced from $21.99 to $24.99.
Additionally, the bundles of Disney+, Hulu, and HBO will see a hike of $3, now costing $32.99 without ads and $19.99 with ads. The standalone plans for Disney+ and Disney+ Premium will increase by $2 and $3 per month, respectively.
The pricing for the NFL+ plan will remain unchanged.
New rates will be effective as of October 21, 2025.
Disney announced on Monday that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” would make its return after engaging in meaningful discussions with Kimmel and deciding to bring the show back on Tuesday.
