Hypocrisy is Real
Following President Donald Trump’s election win in 2016, the Walt Disney Company transitioned from a family-oriented entertainment powerhouse to a brand heavily associated with radical leftist ideologies. This shift appears to have backfired significantly for them, especially among conservative audiences.
Disney has experienced a notable decline in stock prices, a drop in brand admiration, dwindling attendance at their pricey theme parks, and a series of box office failures. It’s been quite a mess.
You might think Disney would have taken note of these outcomes, but an announcement on Wednesday indicated otherwise.
Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed plans for the company’s seventh international theme park during a segment on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” This new park will be located in the United Arab Emirates, a country notorious for its severe treatment of the LGBTQ+ community.
Interestingly, just three years ago, ESPN held a moment of silence to protest Florida’s “Don’t Say a Gay Bill.” Now, Disney is pushing forward with a theme park in a place where such actions can lead to dire consequences for LGBTQ+ individuals.
Attempts to contact both Disney and ESPN for comments on this contradiction received no responses.
