Disney World experiences unusual series of deceased guests

Tragic Events at Walt Disney World

This fall has brought some unexpected and sorrowful news from what is known as the Happiest Place on Earth. In just a few weeks, four guests have reportedly died under tragic situations at Walt Disney World in Florida.

One guest, a devoted fan of Disney, was discovered deceased on October 15, shortly after having gone missing. Summer Equitz, 31, was found at the Contemporary Resort, one of the many hotels within the park. It seems she had even posted a request on Reddit to find her, reaching out to relatives for assistance.

“She booked a flight to Orlando without telling us,” a family member wrote, expressing the shock of the situation.

Sadly, Equitz succumbed to multiple blunt force injuries, initially believed to have resulted from jumping onto the monorail, although authorities clarified that she “was not hit by the monorail.”

Four Deaths in Four Weeks

Then, on October 21, a man in his sixties died after being transported from Disney World to a nearby hospital. Reports indicate that the Orange County Sheriff’s Office found “no indication of criminal activity.” The man had a history of severe health issues, including high blood pressure and advanced liver disease.

The response to this “medical episode” was more subdued compared to the previous deaths, leading to even more questions about the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

Shortly after, another tragic event unfolded when a visitor reported a significant police presence outside Disney’s Bay Lake Tower. Matthew Cohn was confirmed to have taken his own life at the Contemporary Resort on October 23; his lawyer noted that the cause of death was “multiple trauma.”

Lastly, yet another death was reported. A woman in her forties was taken to Celebration Hospital where she later passed away, as per the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The authorities stated that there were “no signs of foul play.” She was found at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, located near Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

A Mysterious Pattern

Various news outlets have reported a total of 68 deaths at Disney World since it opened its doors in 1971. Interestingly, prior to this recent spate, the park averaged only about 0.1 deaths per month over the last 54 years.

This curious pattern has led some, like journalist Jim Hill, to delve into possibly unsettling factors behind these incidents. He mentioned on a podcast that people who visit Disney often do so in a state of deep emotional distress, perhaps trying to create one last cherished memory with family.

As of now, Disney has not commented on these recent events nor provided any further information. It remains to be seen how the park will address these troubling occurrences and their implications for visitors going forward.
