Disney World Addresses Mold Cleanup at “It’s a Small World” Ride

Walt Disney World has reportedly tackled an issue with black mold on the “It’s a Small World” ride, where many visitors might have come into contact with it, according to new reports.

A guest shared on social media that black mold was spotted on one of the animatronic gondolas in the Italian section of this iconic attraction, but it seems that the area has now been cleaned up.

“Finally done! Disney cleaned up the thick black mold lines on this little gondola from It’s a Small World,” the visitor noted. This post garnered significant attention, amassing over 653,100 views.

In a thread, they posted undated photos showing clear mold lines on the gondola, claiming that the problem was “worse recently before we cleaned them.”

It’s a bit unclear just when those photos were taken or how long the mold had been present, but other visitors chimed in, mentioning they were also eager for the issue to be resolved.

One person commented, “You have no idea how much that line bothered me.” Another added, “Just ruining our childhood even more,” to which the original poster replied, “Yeah, the magic is gone.”

Walt Disney World has yet to officially comment on the situation.

The Post has reached out to Disney for further clarification.

The situation has sparked discussions among Disney enthusiasts about cleanliness and maintenance, especially surrounding popular attractions. One fan expressed their heartbreak over the news on Reddit.

“Black mold is no joke,” another commenter said. “If that’s true, that’s concerning.” Others questioned how such an issue could arise, considering Disney’s reputation for cleanliness.

This isn’t the first instance of potential mold being discovered in Disney attractions. Back in 2022, the “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios reportedly faced a mold issue, leading to worries among parkgoers that it might be permanently closed. Eventually, the space reopened last year with a different show.

In December, a family at Disney’s Beach Club Resort reported finding what appeared to be mold on a sliding glass door leading to their balcony. They shared their experiences on Reddit, with some updates indicating the guests were offered new accommodations.

On the lighter side, one family humorously recounted how after leaving a doll behind in their room, it came back to them with some unexpected new friends.

Generally, many suggest that guests who suspect mold should inform Disney staff immediately.

Experts remind us that black mold can pose serious health risks, particularly for individuals with respiratory issues or weakened immune systems, as it can trigger symptoms like sneezing, coughing, and eye irritation.
