Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is set to open its new “Beaks and Barrels” pub this Friday, but making reservations has proven to be quite the challenge.
The “First Experience” aims to transport visitors into the captivating realm of the Pirates of the Caribbean, blending elements of the attraction and film.
Families can expect an array of tropical drinks, tasty bites, lively storytelling, and perhaps a few delightful surprises.
Initially, patrons were expected to book reservations starting August 14, but the online system crashed. After a delay, bookings resumed on August 20, but they vanished quickly, leaving the online calendar with no available slots, not even for single guests.
“We’re really excited because our guests are in for something unexpected,” said Chris Weck, a senior creative director at Walt Disney Imaginary. He noted the buzz surrounding the opening is palpable as people await their visit.
Guests must be at least 21 and provide valid identification to enjoy alcoholic drinks at the pub.
Each visitor is limited to a 45-minute stay and may order up to two alcoholic beverages.
“This isn’t just your typical bar,” stated James Kreisschmidt, the culinary director for concept development at Walt Disney World.
“Our inspiration came from pirates exploring the seven oceans, reflecting on what they saw, experienced, and the spices they encountered during their journeys.”
Kreisschmidt, a cast member for nearly three decades, believes there’s something for everyone at Beaks and Barrels.
“One of my favorites is the UBE and Cake Pop Plank, along with the cannonballs and golden caramel corn,” he shared about a non-alcoholic drink dubbed Treasure Trobe. “It’s a fantastic combination of a refreshing drink and some sweet treats that pair wonderfully together.”
