Disrespectful comments lead to conflict between TPUSA supporters and hostile protesters as Charlie Kirk's tour concludes with violence

Clash at TPUSA Event in Berkeley

Chaos broke out at the Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event held at the University of California, Berkeley, as protesters rallied against the organization’s presence. This was the last stop on TPUSA’s tour following the assassination of Charlie Kirk in September.

According to KTVU, tensions escalated on Monday outside Zellerbach Hall, where comedian Rob Schneider and Christian apologist Frank Turek were scheduled to speak at the event.

A sign seen among the demonstrators read, “Kirk said the death penalty should be public, swift and televised…Congratulations, Bud!” Another sign proclaimed, “TP is in the toilet.”

KTVU’s Crystal Bailey noted the crowd was quite rowdy, prompting increased security. Reports indicated that the protest turned violent, leading to confrontations between the protesters and TPUSA supporters. According to Bailey, there was evidence of “blood spatter on the ground as a result of the riot.”

Videos circulating online depicted leftist protesters chanting derogatory phrases directed at Kirk, who was killed two months prior. Some demonstrators held signs declaring “This machine fights fascism” and “No safe place for fascists.” A large banner featured two hammer and sickle symbols with a slogan about resisting fascism, tied to a group known as the Revolutionary Student Organization, which engages in various activist efforts.

Footage shared by reporter Andy Ngo showed chaotic scenes, with protesters confronting law enforcement and igniting smoke bombs.

Despite the violence, TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Corbett maintained that the event was a success, noting a full crowd of 1,900 at the sold-out venue. He commented on Antifa activists who attempted to disrupt the event with various projectiles.

Reports revealed that at least four students were arrested for vandalism during the incident.
