Star receiver DK Metcalf hopes away from Seattle.
Seahawks star receivers requested a deal on Wednesday and preferred to move to candidates, according to multiple reports.
Seattle's receiving unit has a dramatically different look after the team next season Veteran Tyler Rockett has been released Wednesday after a decade of running with the franchise.
The 27-year-old Metcalf was the final year of his contract, playing in 15 games for the Seahawks in 2024, accumulating 66 catches for 992 yards and five career-low touchdowns.
Second year recipient Jaxson Smith-Njigba ran a breakout campaign in 2024, bringing 100 receptions for 1,130 yards.
Quarterback Genosmith is also in the final year of his contract.
Seattle reportedly asked him to move in before discussing with Metcalf over the past two weeks.
The Seahawks reportedly spoke to multiple teams at the NFL Combine, where offseason business is running.
Previously, there have been conflicting reports that the Seahawks had conversations with the Packers, with the reward being said to be top draft picks and younger receivers.
It makes sense because the Packers need a No. 1 receiver for quarterback Jordan Love, and Seahawks general manager John Schneider worked for Green Bay from 1993 to 1996, spending his time as director of football operations from 2002 to 2009.
Patriots are also in the market for No. 1 receivers, but the chargers can complement the rookie's senses using another top-end playmaker.
The Metcalf is an incredible physical specimen, standing at 6-foot-4, weighing 235 pounds, running an incredible 4.33 40-yard dash at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine.
He will immediately provide a boost to teams looking to acquire legitimate external threats.
Meanwhile, Rockett accumulated 661 catches and 61 touchdowns for 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns after being selected in the third round of the 2015 draft.
He tallied just 49 catches for 600 yards and two scores this past season.
