DK Metcalf’s Unplanned Hospital Visit Following Game

On Sunday, DK Metcalf’s trip to Baltimore took an unexpected turn. The 27-year-old Steelers receiver was hospitalized after experiencing abdominal pain following the team’s 27-22 victory over the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday.

According to Rapoport, “Metcalf was feeling abdominal pain during the flight, and the medical staff was diligent in getting him to the nearest hospital.” He also mentioned that Metcalf “stayed overnight in a hotel in Baltimore.”

Metcalf is set to return to Pittsburgh on Monday.

The news of his health concerns surfaced after he rushed for a season-high 148 yards against Baltimore.

Pittsburgh, which faced significant criticism for its performance against the Bills in Week 13—some fans even called for Mike Tomlin’s job—managed to improve to a 7-6 record with this win, securing a top position in the AFC North standings.

Tomlin remarked, “It’s a great team win. I truly appreciate the efforts of the guys in that locker room. Typical Steelers vs. Ravens.”

Metcalf, now in the first year of his five-year, $150 million contract, expressed his admiration for Tomlin amid speculations regarding his job security. He stated, “‘Coach T’ has been a great leader for us. He’s consistently inspired us to play at our best, regardless of our ups and downs.”

The Steelers have four more games left in the regular season, including a rematch against the Ravens on January 4. As of now, Metcalf has scored five touchdowns and accumulated 753 yards through 13 games.

The team will be back in action next Monday, playing under the lights against the Dolphins.
