Chicago Woman’s Spooky Basement Goes Viral

A woman from Chicago has gained attention for sharing a video of what many are calling a “horror movie” basement, featuring exposed wires and a mysterious door. The clip has gone viral, racking up 7 million views on TikTok.

Emmy Manison described this unsettling space as a “shared basement” that she uses to avoid laundry costs. In her video, she warns viewers, “Do you think your basement is scary?” while wielding a baseball bat for protection.

Manison kicks off her tour by descending a dim staircase into the pitch-black, unfinished basement—an eerie setting reminiscent of a classic slasher film. The maze-like concrete paths are cluttered with odd pieces of furniture, a toy tank, a single tire, and a web of exposed wires. She navigates through this disarray, occasionally stopping to check for any lurking dangers.

Her first stop is the creepy laundry room, where she nervously comments, “You have to do the laundry, hoping no one is behind you. And you need to do it fast!”

At one point, she approaches a creepy green door but hesitates to open it, admitting she doesn’t know what’s waiting behind it. “You’ll never know what a scary basement is like until you’ve been there,” one viewer noted, backing away up the stairs.

Commenters were quick to express their shock and concern, with one declaring, “This would send me back upstairs,” while another suggested gathering a group to investigate the mysterious door. Someone even humorously asked, “What would a bat do to the devil?”

One viewer reflected on the unsettling atmosphere, saying, “The number of inanimate objects in human form is out of this world.” Another suggested, “Out of respect, please leave it on the top floor next time.”

While some likened the basement to a scene from “The Conjuring,” others argued that saving money isn’t worth the creepy experience, joking, “Just buy new clothes every week. It’s not that serious.”
