Doctor explains why he shows his young kids ‘South Park’

Addiction medicine expert and media personality Dr. Drew Pinsky is better known as “Dr. Pinsky.” “Drew” knows all too well the impact screens have on children.

“Screens are a problem,” he tells Dave Rubin. “There’s no question that screens are part of the struggle that’s happening right now, especially among young people.”

The solution, Drew said, is to reach a collective consensus that screen time is bad for children.

“The only way that’s going to happen is if all the parents in all the communities do it together, otherwise you’re just going to be sharing screens during the day,” he says.

Rubin points out that no matter how many parents insist on denying screen time to their children, many eventually give in.

“One night, you want to have a quiet dinner at a restaurant, you give them an iPad, and five years later, everything they do is make cookies,” he tells Drew.

Dr. Drew isn’t perfect either.

“One thing we did that probably wasn’t recommended was watch ‘South Park’ with my sons,” he told Rubin. “Even if there was inappropriate content, we always felt like it was okay because we discussed it all and discussed it.”
