Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani, wife Mamiko Tanaka arrive for Korea series

Shohei Otani arrived in South Korea with much fanfare.

The Japanese-born MLB superstar arrived in South Korea on Friday with his new Dodgers teammates and wife Mamiko Tanaka for next week’s Los Angeles season opener against the Padres.

Otani announced his marriage on February 29th.But earlier this week, it was finally revealed that he was with Tanaka.

“She is a Japanese woman, but she is reluctant to talk about when she got married or the exact date.” Otani, whose personal life is private, said: He spoke about the situation at the time through his interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara.

“But she I’m an ordinary Japanese woman. ”

Tanaka, a Japanese basketball player, is a 5-foot-11-inch power forward/center. According to the Asia Basket website:.

According to reports, Ohtani and Tanaka visited South Korea as many fans wore Dodgers jerseys to greet them.

He greeted the fans with a smile and a wave.

The Associated Press pointed out that Fans were holding placards that read things like “GOATANI GO.”

Ohtani, who signed a 10-year, $700 million contract this offseason, and the Dodgers are among the favorites to win next season’s World Series after a high-profile offseason.

They are scheduled to play the Padres in their first game of the year at Gocheok Sky Dome on Wednesday at 6:05 a.m. ET.
