The Los Angeles Dodgers will be missing their star first baseman Freddie Freeman for at least another week due to an unusual injury.
Freeman played through a painful right ankle during last fall’s postseason, which was surgically operated on shortly after the Dodgers clinched the World Series title.
He injured his ankle once more after slipping while taking a shower at home.

“A strange accident, you can’t really imagine it, nuts,” Freeman remarked earlier this week.
Freeman had a day off for LA.
“In the midst of my morning coffee, I thought, ‘Oh, I’ll just hop in the shower and prepare for the day.’ The next thing I know I’m in the bathtub,” he shared. “If you want to consider it, it’s a pretty amusing metaphor. Big guys slip up anywhere.”
Freeman’s wife and son couldn’t resist poking fun at him, the first baseman noted.

Phillies’ Matt Stram urges pitchers to return to using pine tar in light of the recent torpedo bat trend.
“Chelsea even joked, ‘I thought you were going to handle this at 70, not 35,” Freeman added.
Freeman’s ankle issues did not hinder him in October, as he earned the World Series MVP title, driving in a benchmark 12 runs (in just five games), with four of those coming from the Walk-off Grand Slam in Game 1.
Freeman expressed gratitude that his ankle troubles were the extent of his issues.
“It could have been worse. I could have hit my head,” he mentioned.

Freeman has missed five of the Dodgers’ eight games, yet the team is performing well without him, aiming for an 8-0 start.
