Emotions were running high Sunday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets faced off in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series.
The Mets were aiming for their first World Series appearance since the 2015 season thanks to Daniel Murphy's miraculous run since Los Angeles' 2020 season was affected by the coronavirus.

Once the dust settled, it was the Dodgers who took an early lead and never looked back, winning 9-0.
The Dodgers quickly snapped up Mets starting pitcher Kodai Chiga. After throwing Shohei Ohtani to second base, he gave walks to Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Teoscar Hernandez. Will Smith flew to center field and Max Muncy scored an RBI.
Muncy's single plated Betts and Freeman for the first two runs of the game.
In the second inning, Chiga gave up a walk to Gavin Lux. A sacrifice to third base from Tommy Edman advanced Lux to second base. Ohtani then singled and scored Lux, giving the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.

The Dodgers' solid hitting packed a punch and it lasted throughout the game. The Dodgers scored six more points, more than enough to support Game 1 starting pitcher Jack Flaherty.
Flaherty pitched seven scoreless innings. He had two strikeouts and two walks. He threw 98 pitches, 52 of which were strikes. he had the ball.
Daniel Hudson and Ben Kasparius shut out the game for the Dodgers.
Betts had a double with the bases loaded in the 8th inning, going 1-for-4. Muncy went 1-for-4 with one hit and two RBIs.
The Mets recorded only three hits in the entire game. Jesse Winker, Jose Iglesias and Fernando Alvarez were responsible for the knocks.
