Some of former President Obama's former aides are questioning President Biden's 2024 election strategy.
Politico interviewed several Obama staffers who commented on their experiences in the 2012 election and how the Biden campaign will be different. There are already concerns that Biden's team will have a weaker ground game than Obama's.
“There was a sense that the campaign was not well organized,” an anonymous Democratic congressman told Politico. “The states didn't have the infrastructure in place. They didn't have a strong campaign headquarters. And compared to where Obama was in 2011, the campaign was pretty weak.”

The 2012 secretary of state said, “The big problem I have is that Biden hasn't had much organization so far. He didn't have much organization in the Democratic primaries. Then the general “There was nothing earthly going on,” he agreed.

Some advised Biden's campaign to consider having a White House adviser to ensure better organization.
“There's a wealth of experience in the White House. So one of the problems is that it's all in the White House,” said David Axelrod, former chief strategist in the Obama administration. “Some of them are probably in the campaign.”
But so far in the election, some were less concerned about Biden's organization.
“The average floating voter will pay attention to politics for four minutes a week into the months leading up to November,” said Jim Messina, President Obama's re-election campaign manager. “So the way they are trying to energize their base and get their message across to other groups, and the stakes of whether or not they will make the right choice in the inevitable Biden-Trump rematch, is smart.”

Biden press secretary Kevin Muñoz added, “We encourage everyone who is concerned about the existential threat that Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans pose to our freedoms and democracy to organize, donate, and support this… I encourage you to focus your energy on talking to your friends about the stakes of the election and President Biden's promises.” It's about fighting these threats head-on. ”

The comments are similar to a recent report in the Washington Post suggesting that President Obama had expressed concern about Biden's re-election campaign.
The Washington Post said, “President Obama has questioned the structure of President Biden's re-election campaign, discussed the issue directly with Biden and told the president's closest aides and allies that they make decisions without approval from the White House.'' “I told them that it was necessary to give authority to the election campaign.”
