Greg the Dog Goes Viral for His Snow Boots
Tomorrow might be a day for staying indoors for Greg.
A dog from Manhattan has become an Instagram sensation after a video of him trying on his new snow boots went viral, accumulating close to a million views.
Greg, an Italian greyhound from NoMad, was getting ready for a walk in Madison Square Park. His owner filmed an adorable clip of him awkwardly trying to walk in his new boots, including her humorous caption: “Snowy day in New York…send help.”
“He was really putting in the effort to walk in those boots, and it was so cute and funny that I had to capture it,” said Greg’s owner, Andrea Liu.
Initially, she posted the video on her personal Instagram. However, a friend encouraged her to share it on Greg’s own account, which now has over 7,700 followers. The video quickly gained traction.
At just two years old, Greg currently has two pairs of boots to his name.
“He’s gone through two winters with us. The first year, the boots we got weren’t really practical, and he didn’t seem to enjoy wearing them,” Liu explained.
This year, Greg’s parents opted for a pair from HunnyBoots Australia, a brand specializing in apparel designed for greyhounds. Although they’re more durable, Greg still isn’t thrilled about wearing them.
“He actually prefers his Bongouf down coats for the chilly weather in New York,” Liu mentioned with a hint of affection.
However, it seems like he’s not a fan of wearing the coats either. “He has such short fur that he really needs them for warmth,” she added.
Interestingly, this isn’t Greg’s first brush with viral fame. Last summer, one of his videos—showing him learning to use a remote treat dispenser—garnered around 20 million views.
