Puppy Rescued at Las Vegas Airport Finds New Home

Earlier this month, a dog tied to a luggage sizer at a JetBlue counter in Las Vegas was rescued and has since been adopted by the police officer who aided in his rescue, according to authorities.

The dog, a Goldendoodle affectionately named “JetBlue,” is now in a new loving home, as announced by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) via social media.

LVMPD explained that JetBlue was placed under the permanent care of Las Vegas Retriever Rescue, along with the family of the officer who helped during the rescue of the approximately 2-year-old Goldendoodle and Mini Poodle mix.

Officer Skeeter Black, along with his family, had been in the process of adopting a Goldendoodle since September 2025 and had earlier been approved as a prospective owner before JetBlue was officially selected.

Charges Filed for Animal Abandonment

Authorities reported that a woman has been charged with animal abandonment after she left the dog tethered at the JetBlue counter at the airport. This incident garnered significant media attention when police responded to the scene on February 2.

In the video released by LVMPD, a woman can be seen approaching the ticket booth with her dog before walking away and leaving the animal chained.

According to police, airline staff informed the owner that she hadn’t completed the required forms to allow her dog to fly as a service animal, leading her to leave the dog behind as she proceeded to the departure gate.

During subsequent interactions with officers, she noted she was trying to rebook her flight, but her explanation raised questions. It seemed unlikely someone would leave a pet behind, especially during stressful travel situations.

Further complicating matters, police noted that the woman claimed the dog had a tracking device, suggesting it could find its way back to her. However, authorities stated she became volatile when they escorted her, resisting their attempts to detain her.

In a social media message, LVMPD expressed disbelief, emphasizing the importance of not abandoning animals anywhere, especially in airports.

The Goldendoodle, who had been held for 10 days with no one coming forward to claim him, was eventually taken in by Retriever Rescue in Las Vegas.

The organization has reported a high volume of interest in JetBlue, who they describe as a truly wonderful dog. Their concern emphasizes the unfathomable experience he faced with abandonment. This adds an emotional layer to his story; nobody wants a dog to go through that again.

Ultimately, the police affirmed that JetBlue has officially found his new forever home, with Officer Black’s family eagerly awaiting to provide love and care.
