The number of government credit cards has now dropped to over 600,000, a consequence of efforts aimed at enhancing government efficiency.
The agency reported that more than 13% of the credit cards used by federal officials have been eliminated, although there’s still a pressing need for further action on this front.
Since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s second term, substantial cuts to the government card system have been underway. By May, the agency had already removed over half a million cards.
The federal government currently holds around 4.6 million credit cards that employees utilize for purchases related to various government operations.
