DOGE says $312M in loans given to 11-year-olds, amid more dozens more contract terminations

The government's Department of Efficiency (DOGE) announced a further wave of contract termination late Saturday, and also identified thousands of lawsuits in which more than $300 million in loans were granted to children.

Announcements come as Elon Musk-led agencies continue to eradicate federal waste, fraud and corruption.

Doge said the Small Business Association (SBA) has identified that it granted a loan of nearly $5,600 for $312 million to borrowers who were only 11 years old or younger at the time of the loan. The loans were issued in 2020 and 2021, but the world was struggling with the Covid-19 pandemic, but it is unclear what they are being used for.

When it made the announcement, Doge shared X's posts from Tuesday. It also revealed that in 2020 and 2021, the SBA issued $3,095 loans to borrowers over the age of 115 for $3,095.

The borrower was marked as still alive in the Social Security database. In one case, the 157-year-old individual received $36,000 on loan, the agency said. The loans included PPP (Payment Protection Program) and EIDL (Economic Injury Disaster Loan) loans.

Doge also said it had cancelled one USDA Contracts Office worth $10.3 million, but it was launched “ironically” to “identify unnecessary contracts.”

The cost-saving agency said the termination was one of 162 non-essential contracts that have been cancelled with a total ceiling value of $205 million and a savings of $90 million. The agency did not designate which area of ​​the federal government where the remaining contracts were terminated.

Meanwhile, Musk met with a small group of House Republicans Wednesday evening to discuss their quest to find up to $1 trillion in government waste.
