Dognappers steal dachshund named Milkshake from NYC apartment: cops

Authorities said Wednesday that a pair of dog thieves snatched a dachshund named Milkshake from a Bronx apartment while its owner was distracted at a birthday party.

According to police and surveillance footage, on May 4, a young man and woman allegedly stole the 10-year-old female dog from inside a building on Tiffany Street near Westchester Avenue in Longwood.

The owner told police he was having a birthday party inside the apartment and that the door was open, police said.

Police said she last saw Milkshake at an apartment where a group of children were playing with her.

Authorities say the owner noticed the brown puppy was missing around 8 p.m.

Video released by the NYPD on Wednesday morning shows the small dog chasing two burglars down a hallway, up and down a small staircase and to the door.

The milkshakes had not been returned by Wednesday and no arrests had been made.
