Justice Department Reviews Epstein Files
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department is tirelessly reviewing millions of documents in a bid to release what’s being termed the “Epstein File,” related to the infamous sex trafficker.
According to a report from the New York Times, around 400 lawyers are sifting through approximately 5.2 million pages as part of disclosures mandated by Congress, a task that’s projected to extend until at least January 20.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche noted on X, “Department of Justice attorneys from various divisions are working around the clock to review documents in accordance with federal law, even during holidays like Christmas and New Year’s.”
He emphasized that this effort is a “full-scale” operation, calling on as many lawyers as possible to dedicate their time for this monumental task. While the necessary redactions, aimed at protecting victims, will take time, Blanche mentioned that they can’t delay the release of these documents.
“Our main goal is clear: to provide transparency and protect victims,” he asserted.
The current administration faces criticism regarding the pace of document release following Congress’s passage of the Epstein File Transparency Act, which mandates the complete disclosure of all investigative materials by December 19.
Already, tens of thousands of records have surfaced about Epstein, who was listed as a sex offender back in 2008. His network included notable figures like Bill Gates, former Presidents including Bill Clinton, influential lawyers, celebrities, and academics.
Epstein’s death in a federal Manhattan prison on August 10, 2019, was ruled a suicide by multiple investigators, yet his connections to powerful individuals have ignited numerous conspiracy theories surrounding his demise.
This speculation has led to rampant rumors suggesting Epstein may have kept a “client list” containing names of individuals who were either aware of or involved in his heinous crimes, including his convicted associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
Just prior to his death, federal prosecutors charged Epstein with offenses related to the sex trafficking of minors, with some victims reported to be as young as 14.
