Donald Trump was right.
The Department of Justice released the National Crime Victimization Survey.
It has been confirmed that violent crime will increase by 37% between 2020 and 2023.
ABC's David Muir argued that Trump was wrong to say this during the debate.
Following the release of new crime statistics from the Department of Justice, former President Donald Trump's presidential campaign issued a statement Thursday slamming ABC's David Muir, one of the moderators of Tuesday's presidential debate.
Trump said during the debate that crime rates, especially those committed by illegal immigrants, have soared under the Biden-Harris administration, but Muir countered, “As you know, the FBI says that violent crime across the board is going down in the country.”
The Trump campaign highlighted figures from the Department of Justice's National Crime Victimization Survey, released Thursday, which found violent crimes increased 37% from 2020 to 2023, rapes 42%, robberies 63% and stranger violence 61%.
“If Kamala is given another four years in office and the opportunity to continue to be soft on crime, slash police budgets and implement zero-bail policies, America will continue to be a crime-ridden hellhole for illegal immigrants, Venezuelan gangsters and drug dealers,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt said in a statement.
