The latest revelations come amid a myriad of criminal investigations facing the former president, including an indictment issued last week in Manhattan over hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels.

The FBI declined to comment on the report, but Trump spokesperson Stephen Chang condemned the investigation in a statement to The Washington Post.

“The witch hunt against President Trump has no basis in fact or law,” he said.

“The chaotic special counsel and DOJ are resorting to prosecutorial misconduct by corrupting the legal process, weaponizing the judicial system to manipulate public opinion, and illegally leak information to interfere in elections. Because they’re clearly losing across the board.”

Federal investigations are only part of Trump’s legal headaches.

The former president is expected to face arraignment in a Manhattan court this Tuesday over hush money payments made on behalf of Daniels ahead of the 2016 election.

Trump is also facing an investigation in Georgia over whether he tried to overturn the 2020 election that he lost to 80-year-old President Biden.
