In his new memoir, “The Book of Sheen,” Charlie Sheen shares an intriguing anecdote about former President Bill Clinton, who reportedly tried to pursue Sheen’s girlfriend, Dolly Fox, back in the 1980s.
While filming “Three for the Road” in Arkansas in 1987, the cast visited the governor’s mansion. Sheen recalls a moment when Alan Luck, a co-star, overheard Clinton telling his entourage to learn more about the “brunette,” referring to Dolly.
Fox has confirmed the story, revealing that she has several connections to Clinton. Interestingly, she was a participant in the Miss America pageant in 1982, and there are claims about Clinton’s interest during that time.
Adding to the tale, Fox mentioned that her late mother, Yolande, who was Miss America in 1951, became friends with both Hillary Clinton and Virginia Kelly, Bill Clinton’s mother. They even would go to the racetrack together!
Fox’s mother also hosted one of Clinton’s official inauguration events in Washington, D.C. It’s a fascinating web of relationships, especially since Fox humorously noted that Monica Lewinsky’s mother was also friends with her mother. “It’s just a bizarre twist of fate,” she said, laughing about the interconnectedness of their stories.
While the story of Clinton never seemed significant to Fox at the time, she later found it amusing when Sheen brought it up in his book. She admitted, “I didn’t even think about it until he published it.” Reflecting on the past, she noted, “It was just life back then; I just laughed it off.”
Currently, Fox is working on a play about actress Dorothy Dandridge. Interestingly, Sheen mentioned in his memoir that he shared the Clinton anecdote with fellow patients during rehab, perhaps as a way to connect over shared experiences. “I was in a pretty diminished state, but nobody believed me at first,” he recounted having joked about it with a group gathered around the TV.
Further comments were sought from a representative of Clinton.
