After 58 years of marriage, dolly parton Her husband Carl Thomas Dean knows a thing or two about compromise and maintaining a healthy relationship.
During the performance Bunny Zoe's “Dumb Blonde” podcastthe country music icon, 78, opened up about his unique bond with Dean and explained how they avoid arguments in their relationship.
“He's quiet, I'm loud, and we're funny,” she told Jelly Roll's Wife on the podcast. “Oh, he's hilarious. And I think one of the reasons it's lasted so long over the years is that we love each other.” [and] We respect each other and it's a lot of fun. anytime [there’s] There's so much tension that one of us would find a joke about it to really break the tension and not let it get that bad. ”

“We never had a back-and-forth fight,” she added. “And now I'm glad I didn't, because once you start doing it, it's for life. I've seen it with a lot of people, and I'm glad I didn't do it. I couldn't bear the thought of him saying something that was unacceptable…because I'm a very sensitive person, both to others and to myself. is.”
The couple has been married since 1966. Parton met with Dean At a laundromat when she was 18 and he was 21.
While Dean is Parton's biggest supporter, she has tried to stay out of the spotlight over the years.

“He loves music, but he doesn't have the slightest interest in being involved in music. And he told me that from the beginning,” she told Bunny Zoe.

“I begged you to go with me in '67. We were married in '66. So that's when I won my first award for BMI Song of the Year. (“Put It Off Tomorrow Tomorrow''). And I borrowed a tuxedo from him and begged him to go, and he seemed very uncomfortable the whole night. ”

Parton said that upon returning home, Dean immediately “started doing things.”
“He said, 'Look, I want you to do everything you want to do and I wish you the best. But just because I'm not going, I don't want you to go do something else. Never ask.’ And he never did,” she said.

“So we respect that, and I didn't know he would be so anxious, so I respected that, but he, you know, even likes going out to big dinners and things like that. ” she added.
The “Jolene” singer said their different interests actually brought them closer together.

“He's a family man, and that worked out well for us,” she said. “I don't know if there are people in the world who refer to astrology or who pay attention to it.But he is a Cancer and I am a Capricorn, and they are compatible zodiac signs. He loved going somewhere. “If we were going to drive cross-country.'' Or even if we were planning something, he couldn't wait to get home. There wasn't. ”
“He wanted to be close to home, but I'm a gypsy by nature,” she added. “I just love going and seeing what else is out there. But for me…I think it worked.”
